Sheet metal disk, painted black on white, with letters (upper and lower case), punctuation and numerals around the outer edge. Raised characters are on edge of disk under each printed letter. Gap in disk allows appropritate character to be brought to printing position, where it is depressed with thumb tab onto notched sheet platform which is provided with a roller with knobs on each end. Center of printing disk reads:
" The Practical Typewriter No. #"
Around the inside edge:
"United Staes Patents Aug. 30, 1892 and March 21, 1899."
